Harrym Makes

The great downsizing sale

If you like rummaging, making, fixing or just poking about, drop by and see if you can give a useful thing a new home. No reasonable offer refused!

I'm losing my studio space on Hornsey Road (which is sad) and so have to downsize quite a bit (which is oddly liberating). I'm taking the opportunity to reset, reduce the amount of stuff that's accumulated over the years, and rebuild with more mindfulness (and less ADHD 🤞).

I've spent the last 15 years or so as a hobby maker - it's been my refuge from work. I've done lots of woodworking, some metalworking, electronics tinkering, leatherwork, jewelry-making and all sorts of other things that don't easily fit in a category. And all of those things have involved gathering tools, materials and supplies. So there's lots of stuff.

I'm not getting rid of all the stuff but lots of it will need a new home. Some of the bigger things I'm listing for sale (see below), but most of it is just going to be in the studio, waiting for interested humans to poke about and make me an offer.

If that sounds like fun, I'd love you to visit. There's a little video tour and some pictures below to give you an idea of what you might find.

If you'd like to come and have a look around, pop me a whatsapp on 07790 559 876 or email me at mail@harrymetcalfe.com and we'll find a time.

There will be tea ☕

Bigger items for sale

These are the bigger-ticket items for sale. I'm very happy to entertain offers, if only to save me from the machinations of eBay. More pictures and details on request.

Item 1
£1200 - Sieg SX3 milling machine

Bought new for £1700 in 2022. It has seen only very light use. It is practically new. It's very heavy, you'll need a van and some strong friends to move it.

Item 1
£offer - a drawer full of mill accessories

I have no idea how much I spent on all these. There are cutters, parallels, collets, workholding and more.

Item 2
£150 - Record Power 12" disc sander

This machine is delightful. It's seen some use but is in good condition. Comes with some space discs.

Item 6
£400 - Dust collector

Charnwood W719 dust collector with a HEPA filter. A few years ago, I got very irritated by dust and built a whole dust collection system. It's been great. Highly recommend.

Item 3
£200 - Triton 317mm thicknesser

Originally bought when I also planned to get a planer (but I never did). As a result it's almost unused. Bought new for £300 in 2021.

Item 4
£1500 - Migatronic Focus 2000 AC/DC Tig welder

This machine is new. Why didn't I buy a Mig? Anyway. It's a very good machine. Comes with some tips, collets and a bunch of rods.

Item 5
£4150 - Shapeoko 5 Pro 4x4' with VFD spindle

I'm very sad to be letting this go. It's a glorious machine. Unfortunately it's just too big for me now - I'm going to buy a smaller one.

Item 6
£2450 - Killinger 1450SE

This was going to be my forever lathe. I hope it can now be someone else's forever lathe. It's a heavy, very well built machine that would suit a professional turner just as well as an amateur.

Item 6
£300 - Bandsaw

This is my Axminster Hobby bandsaw. It's a great little machine - very handy, produces much better cuts than a jigsaw. Easy to get blades for and the table is good.

Item 6
£1950 - Shaper Origin + Workstation

I bought this before I got the big CNC. There are some jobs only it can do, and it's a great space saver. It comes with the workstation, tape, and a bunch of bits and bobs.

Item 6
£1100 - Belt grinder

This belt grinder is a joy - it's so flexible (🤪) - comes with table, accessories and lots of spare belts for grinding and polishing It's designed for knifemaking, but it's useful for... everything?

Item 2
£100 - bench grinder

A Sealey BG150XW bench grinder - 150mm, 450W. It's very powerful. You can grind pretty hard on it without it stalling which I like a lot.

Pop me a whatsapp on 07790 559 876 or email me at mail@harrymetcalfe.com if you're interested, and we can arrange a time to have a look.
